P.S: Our trip has been unfortunate enough, to Shakespeare's birthplace it was holiday hours so it was not open; It was hard scheduling the trip...My friend who flew over from China took off work from December 26-Jan 2, so we had to sign up for this tour during holiday season...Either tourist sites were closed, or...we had bad weather...
Windermere is a town with around 10,000 population in northwest England. Its main tourist attraction is the lake of course, as well as its forest and mountains. The town of Windermere belongs to Cumbria County and it is within the Lake District National Park area. By the way, the Lake District was many poets favorite place to go. Many 19th century poets got inspired by the lakes, including William Wordsworth, whose home we also visited later in the day.
Another tourist attraction, mainly for children, is the World of Beatrix Potter. Beatrix Potter wrote children stories, such as Peter Rabbit. If you have kids, it is a fun place to go. Or you could also enjoy the museum yourselves to feel young again! Here's a link to The World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction

| Another street view of Windermere. It is a mountainous district. When we walked through the town, there were hills ups and downs. |
After Windermere, we swung by Dove Cottage, a house at the edge of Grasmere in the Lake District. Dove Cottage is home to a 19th century English poet---William Wordsworth. He lived there with his sister and wife for over eight years. During his time at Dove Cottage, he wrote a lot of poems. As he and his wife had children, their family expanded and they moved out seeking for larger place to live.
